ESPA shares specialism with CQC

I was approached in November 2015 by a former colleague who now works for the CQC who informed me that the CQC were interested in finding out from ESPA the differences they could expect to see when inspecting autism specific services.

Lisa Belshaw (ESPA’s MDT Coordinator and Occupational Therapist) and I developed a presentation using real life examples of the specialist support ESPA provides. The presentation which was well received was delivered to thirty CQC Inspectors at their Regional Hub in York in January.

The presentation feedback from the Inspectors was very positive.  They said,  the presentation has enabled them to have more insight and has given them more awareness of the differences in relation to communication, the environment and structured routine which they should expect to see in an autism specific service.

Everyone who attended agreed it had been a very informative day.
