8 The Cedars consists of two four-person flats and the coach house has been converted into two separate single person apartments. The property overlooks a large park and benefits from a large garden and is within walking distance of Sunderland city centre and a wide range of local facilities.

Everyone living in the home requires intensive 24-hour support. Most individuals in addition to their autism spectrum disorder require specialist support due to their social, behavioural difficulties or mental health difficulties. The staff work with people living here to create a happy, comfortable, friendly and safe home to live in.

For many individuals the aim is to provide positive, structured and autism-specific support that equips them to live a more independent future. This has successfully been achieved for a number of people.

Person-centered planning ensures that each person has a unique lifestyle that is based upon their interests, wishes and aspirations for the future. The individuals enjoy learning new skills, being involved in the community and socialising. We now have vegetable plots, a large greenhouse where we grow our own produce for cooking and a shed that has been converted into a wood workshop. The Croft Centre next door provides further opportunities for social, creative and expressive arts activities.

The service is registered with the Care Quality Commission and consistently receives outstanding reports.
