What People Say

Our son is autistic and has learning disabilities.  He has lived with ESPA for fifteen years.  Like most parents, when he left our family home to move to ESPA we had very mixed feelings of guilt, apprehension, sadness, concern for his well-being and hope for his future.  Now, fifteen years later, we see a young man who has flourished as a happy, healthy adult and who has achievements in independent living (especially cookery), use of IT, craft skills, trampolining, swimming and walking.  He enjoys a very active life of his choice, with a carefully designed timetable of weekly learning and development activities, combined with regular holidays and trips around the North of England and the Scottish Borders.  In these fifteen years he has learnt and experienced much more than he ever could have done had he remained living with us.
