Clare describes her first day volunteering at Beamish Museum

My First Day Volunteering at Beamish Museum by

Clare Simpson

CS first day at Beamish

At Beamish I dressed up in a lovely pink dress, it was a Victorian dress.

I did some knitting in a cottage, it was knitting a kettle holder for a kettle and it was purple wool.

I went to the schoolrooms and I watched the children being lectured by a teacher. The school room and cottage were very interesting.

I saw the farm and all of the animals including hens and rabbits.

I saw in the distance the coal miners and other buildings of Beamish.

I had lunch in one of the buildings.

I walked around the site and I spoke to Jo and Beamish staff and we saw all of the different sights.  I will be going to Beamish now every Wednesday.

I am going to Pockerley Manor and I am making lavender bags with the school children and I am reading stories to the school children. The school children are lovely.
